The Gorram Nerd Hour: Volume 2 Issue 30 - This is the End

Posted on 20:31 by khali
When we last left the Dynamic Duo, they were both lamenting about the lack of new material for the show. Will this week fare any better for the Trained Monkey and Mr. Rapey Face?

The Box Office report makes Jacob angry, and you don’t want to see him when he is angry. Actually this episode has Jacob angry through almost the entire thing, and Brian laments on how rare it is to actually hear Jacob laugh.

In movie news, Diablo Cody, 20th Century Fox, JJ Abrams, Eddie Murphy, and Butterfly Effect all get mentions. TV brings us Star Trek: TNG and the release of the 4th season on BluRay release as well as a new segment that Jacob has called “Hollywood Is Nuts!” And Jacob brings back the “Movies I hate but the general public adores” segment.

All this and more on this, the final issue of Volume 2 of The Gorram Nerd Hour.

Talk Zebra: Episode 14: Off Again, Off Again

Posted on 02:02 by khali
At the top of the show, the guys talk about Camm's mom leaving, Camm being sick, and some reaction to Tony's singing from last week.

In Five Dub, Tony picks one of his all-time favorite sitcoms to ever appear on television: Married With Children http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ze1sx9YR2Ec.

MOLI's results from last week prompt one of the zeebs to issue a challenge of sorts to our listeners. For this week's battle of songs from before 1960, Camm is up first with the smooth vocal stylings of Sam Cooke, with the song "You Send Me", heard here...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pX6QlnlMqjE Tony goes with the rock n roll hit "Johnny B. Goode", by Chuck Berry, heard here...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8JULmUlGDA.

MOTH brings us another Talk Zebra first, when Camm goes after Tony and picks our first ever dead guy! It's James Dean, the legendary actor, seen here...http://www.alilevinedesign.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/jamesdeansuit.jpg Tony goes with a live body, picking LA Dodgers sensation Yasiel Puig, seen here...http://sitracking.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/yasiel-puig.jpg?w=600&h=375

Unprotected Sports: Round 75: Philsy

Posted on 01:29 by khali
There are a lot of big stories to cover this week, and in the middle of the show, The Godfather stops by to discuss Phil Mickelson's Open Championship victory. Father and son discuss how Phil was able to win, what his place in golf history is now, and how Tiger failed yet again. You'll also get the Godfather's perspective on the death of boxer Emile Griffith, a closeted gay athlete from back in the day.

The big stories that Tony and The Lion cover for you include the Ryan Braun suspension and what might happen to A-Fraud, a strange contract involving new Clipper J.J. Redick, a big contract for Boston's Dustin Pedroia, and RGIII being cleared for training camp.

In addition, we visit the Lion's Den, we have an MLB pitcher who is the subject of this week's Pussification segment, and we have another country that is up for a Sandusky award.

The Gorram Nerd Hour: Volume 2 Issue 29

Posted on 19:50 by khali
Dennis Farina has passed away, and it seems that every week the guys are commiserating another celebrity passing.

Joss Whedon has told us that there will be no Hank Pym in the new Age of Ultron movie. What?!

12 Monkeys is coming to the small screen, and all Jacob can ask is “Why?”

The new Freddie Mercury biopic looks like a reality, but Sasha Baron Cohen won’t be playing the frontman of the legendary band Queen. Brian is thanking the rock gods right now.

A Fight Club sequel? Sure, why the fuck not? Oh, the boys know why not. It’s going to be TERRIBLE!

Shortlist.com brings us another Top 10 list, but this time from the minds of none other than Nick Frost and Simon Pegg.

And it looks like there’s going to be about another 50 years of Supernatural. Jacob is not pleased.

SDCC was this past weekend, and the biggest news was definitely the Batman/Superman movie. Brian seemed more pleased than Jacob, but of course it isn’t coming out until 2015, so LET THE SPECULATION BEGIN!

To finish off the show this week, Jacob gives you 10 minutes of his interview with actor Bill Oberst Jr., from such work as Abraham Lincoln Vs. Zombies and Take This Lollipop. The full conversation will be available on Friday.

Talk Zebra: Episode 13: Andrew Manicotti

Posted on 01:01 by khali
The opening banter from your favorite zeebs centers around Camm's mom, who is staying with him temporarily. Camm draws parallels from her stay to when Tony was still living there, which Tony finds amusing. Tony also tells of how the Zimmerman jury cost him some money.

In Five Dub, Camm profiles our first-ever animated series, American Dad!... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oM1vazdf9Sg

MOLI presents the listeners with vastly different duets. Tony offers up an inspirational song featuring two of the best singers on the planet, as Celine Dion combines with Andrea Bocelli to perform "The Prayer", heard here...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8RG-U1LAG0 Camm goes with "You're All I Need", a duet featuring the rapping of Method Man and the vocal stylings of Mary J. Blige, heard here... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_Xro3Cc_xk

For MOTH, Camm attempts to tickle your funnybone by choosing comedian and podcaster Bryan Callen, seen here... http://s3.amazonaws.com/cmi-niche/assets/pictures/6238/content_callen.jpg?1297888267 Tony's choice is Columbia professor Dr. Marc Lamont Hill, whom Tony noticed doing some commentary on the Zimmerman/Trayvon case, seen here... http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120121012609/redeyebonusroom/images/5/5c/HillMarcLamont.jpg

The Gorram Nerd Hour Movie Review: Jacob Reviews "Odd Thomas"

Posted on 00:00 by khali
There are certain directors Jacob really doesn't like - Uwe Boll, Renny Harlin, Michael Bay and too many more to list. He's never been a fan of director Stephen Sommers. Does Odd Thomas sway his opinion? Or does Jacob add him to the list?

The movie stars Anton Yelchin, Willam Dafoe, Addison Tamblin and Gugu Mbatha-Raw and based on a novel by Dean R. Koontz. Will this film be better than Phantoms, or will it fall even further down into Corey Haim depths like Watchers? (You thought I was gonna make some kind of tasteless death joke about Corey Haim, didn't you?)

From the Underground: Episode 17

Posted on 01:01 by khali
Brian stops by to make the FTU guys uncomfortable. Jacob and Ryan are still arguing about who's to blame for missing a show two weeks ago. Ryan calls Jacob rapey, and so Jacob goes off on a creepy story of using taxis to stalk people. Ryan pulls a guy over to ask about his Google eyepiece. They throw in a little talk about alternate universes. Essentially, it's more of the same - two guys who aren't even intentionally trying to out weird each other who are basically trying to out weird each other.

Here are your bands and songs for this week -

Harvey Danger - Carlotta Valdez
Edward Sharp & The Magnetic Zeroes - 40 Day Dream
Articles - Georgia
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Ain't No Easy Way Out
Blue Star - As One
Occision - Death Remains Eternal
The 77's - Pearls Before Swine
Diamond Rugs - Hungover And Horney
Capitol - You Look Better On Fire

Unprotected Sports with Tony and The Lion: Round 74: Houston, You Have A Problem

Posted on 06:57 by khali
The guys are back, and up for discussion this week is the conclusion of the Dwightmare. Tony doesn't think his decision to join the Rockets was all about winning, but will Leo agree? They also talk about which NBA teams they think are best suited for a run at the NBA title next season.

With the recently-concluded MLB All-Star Game, the guys unveil a combination Time Machine/List segment, where the top 10 most memorable MLB All-Star games are discussed. Find out which game Leo decides to hear a clip from.

Other topics include the British Open (which is already underway), Andy Murray winning Wimbledon, and the Dodgers ending the first half on a high note. There's also another live horse racing wager during the Lion's Den.

Finally, there are two weeks' worth of Sandusky awards to give out, and with the George Zimmerman/Trayvon Martin case wrapped up, you know the guys have thoughts on that!

The Atomic Fallout Society: Episode 91 - Superman Kills Again???

Posted on 06:55 by khali
This is the week that all fanboys and fangirls have been waiting for... the 91st episode of the Atomic Fallout Society... and the San Diego Comic Con. Why are the guys NOT at the San Diego Comic Con? It might be because they might be sick and tired of dealing with the crowds and the raised prices of almost everything out in San Diego this time of year. Listen to this episode and hear the rants and apprehension of going back to the con for some of the guys. But first, we have reviews...

Tony reviews the latest Deadpool, and it is a GROOVY issue. That basically sums it up. Brian reviews the latest Justice League of America coming off of yet another sudden death at the hands of Superman... wait a minute, haven't they learned their lesson already? Dave reviews the debut issue of Superior Carnage. Now that's a guy that kills for a living...

You smell what The Atomic Fallout Society is cooking?

The Gorram Nerd Hour: Volume 2 Issue 28

Posted on 21:59 by khali
The boys both like to make fun of Glee, but not today. Sadness struck the other day when news of Corey Monteith's death in Canada surfaced. He was only 31.

It seems that the Pom Far is affecting Zach Quinto’s brain, and his claims about the next installment of Star Trek may be a little off.

What the hell is a Sharknado?

Weekend box office was a little sad this past weekend. Despicable Me 2 took the #1 spot once again, which is fine. It's a family film. Fine. We get it. But Grown Ups 2 was #2 forcing Pacific Rim to the #3 slot.

With the Cornetto trilogy coming to a close, Edgar Wright is all ready to start on Ant Man!

Kanye West is an idiot, and SDCC is right around the corner. What more could you ask for?

espressogossip.com has a list of movie posters doctored to show the original actors cast before the change. Go look that the list. It's worth it.

Jacob brings you a new segment to end the show, and Brian calls him out for his inability to fill time.

All this and a whole lot more on this episode of The Gorram Nerd Hour.

The Gorram Nerd Hour Movie Review: Jacob Reviews Asylum's "Atlantic Rim"

Posted on 00:00 by khali
It was only fitting that Asylum would release a new mockbuster called Atlantic Rim right before Guillermo Del Toro unleashes his Pacific Rim to the world. This mockbuster stars the likes of David Chokachi from Baywatch, Treach from Naughty By Nature and Graham Greene from Dances With Wolves. Give Jacob's review a listen. And if you choose to watch Atlantic Rim, rest assured that even if Pacific Rim sucks, it'll be 1000x better than this.
